Anaesthetic Management for Repair of Cleft Lips and Cleft Palates

1 Departments of Anaesthesia, the Hospital for Sick Children, and University of Toronto, Toronto, Ontario

Six hundred and four cases of cleft lips and cleft palates operated on over a five-year period at the Hopital for Sick Children, Toronto, have been reviewed. These cases have been investigated under the headings: associated congenital malformations, preoperative morbidity, and postoperative complications. The conduct of anaesthesia for cleft lips and cleft palates used at the present time at the Hospital for Sick Children has been outlined.
