Blood volume studies showed that bilaterally nephrectomized patients maintained on haemodialysis are usually slightly hypervolaemic. Haemodialysis made no statistical difference to either blood volume or plasma cholinesterase levels. Plasma proteins were within normal limits; there were changes seen in the albumen/globulin ratio in many cases.

Presented at the Annual Meeting of the Canadian Anaesthetists' Society, June 16-19, 1969.
