The Present study was undertaken to investigate the effect Ethrane anaesthesia on adrenocortical function reflected by plasma cortisol levels in 15 surgical patients. Ethrane anaesthesia alone for 30 minutes significantly but slightly decreased plasma cortisol level. However, it could not block the adrenocortical stimulation caused by surgical operation.
