Prolonged Duration of Apnoea due to Succinylcholine

Case histories of three patients have been given in an effort to show that a low serum cholinesterase is by no means an invariable finding where prolonged recovery to succinylchohne occurs.

A theory is given of a possible mechanism in these cases.

Practical suggestions on treatment are offered.
