1 Chief of the Department of Anaesthesia, Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto
The problem of preoperative medication in children is discussed. The various conditions which influence the choice of drugs and their dosages are considered. A list of the drugs in everyday use at the Hospital for Sick Children is given. So-called "Psychic Trauma" in paediatric anaesthesia receives some consideration but is dismissed as being of negligible importance. A brief résumé of the premedication used in anaesthesia for surgical corrections of congenital heart disease is included.
