A significant increase in lumbosacral SCBF was demonstrated at 40 min following intrathecal chloroprocaine. The hyperaemic response seen with 2-chloroprocaine-CE is similar to that occurring following subarachnoid tetracainc (20 mg) administration in dogs.2 Our results indicate that 2-chloroprocaine-CE does not induce acute spinal cord vasospasm in dogs following subarachnoid injection. Possible mechanisms responsible for prolonged neurological deficits following subarachnoid 2-chloroprocaine-CE will be discussed.
