The effectiveness of Plexonal for preoperative night sedation has been tested in 250 patients, 100 of whom underwent a Double Blind Study.
The fallacy of relying on a straight study in the evaluation of these drugs has been demonstrated and the necessity of controlling results with a Double Blind Study has been emphasized. In the last resort it is the patient's subjective response to hypnotic medication which is of prime importance. In this respect Plexonal produced a mild but definite soporific effect.
Note:
Supplies of Plexonal were made available through the courtesy of Messrs. Sandoz Pharmaceuticals, Montreal, P.Q.
