The care of the post-thymectomy myasthenic patient who develops respiratory complications and in whom problems of drug dosage arise is considered. It is believed that intensive postoperative care is necessary under these circumstances, including tracheostomy, institution of artificial ventilation and the temporary cessation of anticholinesterase therapy. Problems of management are discussed and a case is presented.
